July 2010 Polls

Guilt by association isn't a new concept. The recent national example is then candidate Barack Obama's association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. With that I'm thinking:

Politicians shouldn't be held accountable for who they are friends with or who they associate with. How they choose friends and associates should not reflect on who they are. (20.25% - 226 votes)

Politicians should be held accountable for who they are friends with or who they associate with. How they choose their friends and associates does reflect on who they are. (66.40% - 741 votes)

I could go either way on this one. (13.35% - 149 votes)

The 54-year-old Vancouver fire chief is retiring and -- not counting any other benefits he might get -- he'll receive 70 percent of his salary or more than $90,000 a year from his state pension. I'm thinking:

Firefighters work very hard during their careers and the chief deserves every penny he's getting. (35.07% - 330 votes)

If anyone was wondering why the government is having trouble balancing its budget... hello!!!! (49.73% - 468 votes)

I was hoping to get a free lunch from the private company I'm working for when I retire -- at 65 -- but now it's just a cup of coffee and a handshake. (15.20% - 143 votes)

Now that Mayor Tim Leavitt has switched his stance from "no tolls" on the proposed news Columbia River bridge to "tolls" I'm thinking:

Good for him. Show me a politician who is willing to change his mind and I'll show you a politician I can respect. (13.59% - 157 votes)

Bad for him. Show me a politician who is willing to say one thing to get elected and then another thing once he's elected and I'll show you a politician I have no respect for. (76.02% - 878 votes)

City Councilman Jack Burkman thinks he may have a solution to Vancouver's fiscal problems. Changing to a more ala carte set of taxes. I'm thinking...

This is a very good idea because people will have a chance to see exactly where their money is going. (8.88% - 38 votes)

This is a very good idea because people will have more of a say in what they want to spend money on. (18.22% - 78 votes)

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are joining forces with the Miami Heat. I'm thinking:

There's no way this team can ever lose: 82-0 and then an NBA championship. (12.61% - 29 votes)

The Cleveland Cavaliers' owner is right: James has brought bad karma upon himself and will never win an NBA title. (53.04% - 122 votes)

They can collect all the talent they want. It won't matter because the Blazers are primed to become the dominant team in the league. (34.35% - 79 votes)

With the congressional election heating up, I'm thinking:

I'll support one of the mainstream candidates. With the challenges facing the country, we need responsible, reasoned leadership. (19.72% - 14 votes)

What a proud and glorious way to honor our country! (39.90% - 387 votes)
