June 2011 Polls

The Blazers decided to extend an $8.8 million offer to the almost always injured Greg Oden. I'm thinking...

Good decision. The Blazers have invested a lot of time and money into him and they need to give him time. He could be great. (19.63% - 200 votes)

Terrible decision. The Blazers should be smarter than this. They made a bad choice in picking him #1 in the draft and now they're just throwing money away on him. Cut bait! (52.70% - 537 votes)

If the Blazers were the government you'd simply say... business as usual. (27.67% - 282 votes)

The Columbia River Economic Development Council just released the results of an $80,000 study outlining what we need to do to build our economy. I'm thinking:

The ideas of innovation, taking advantage of our higher education institutions, fostering entrepreneurship and investing in our infrastructure are all good ideas and could help us out of our economic mess. (12.23% - 63 votes)

No offense but if someone bought me a cup of coffee I could have told them the same thing. It's just another study to gather dust on the shelf. (81.36% - 419 votes)

Let's give this one a little time to work. We need to do something. (6.41% - 33 votes)

Will you "staycation" this summer?

No. The times still aren't great, but enough postponing. We are going on a real vacation this year. (15.91% - 28 votes)

Yes. What with rising costs and stagnant-at-best income, we're going to be staying near home on our vacation. (34.66% - 61 votes)

Vacation? What vacation? (49.43% - 87 votes)

Although the City of Vancouver no longer is considering banning pit bulls, should they be banned?

Yes. Pit bulls, when trained poorly, can be very dangerous so why take the chance. (30.51% - 482 votes)

No. It's not the pit bulls but rather the owners who create the problems. (46.08% - 728 votes)

Yes or no, I'd never allow a young child near a pit bull. (23.42% - 370 votes)

What's your favorite local festival?

Battle Ground Harvest Days. Between the parade, the carnival and the 4-H animals, there is something for everyone. (6.47% - 9 votes)

Camas Days. The parade under the shade trees is Clark County's best! (7.91% - 11 votes)

Ridgefield's Fourth of July festival. It reminds me of Norman Rockwell. (13.67% - 19 votes)

As the slogan goes, the Clark County Fair is summer's best party. (43.88% - 61 votes)

I'm not much for festivals. (28.06% - 39 votes)

Notwithstanding schools and libraries, how often do you think people would vote in favor of an increase in taxes?

We're a giving, loving bunch in these parts so I would say most of the time. (4.05% - 34 votes)

We would go down the middle on this one, half the time, yes, have the time no. It depends. (29.29% - 246 votes)

Who's kidding who here? If it says increased taxes we say no! (66.67% - 560 votes)

What should be done in light of the state's school vaccination exemption rate, the nation's highest?

Vaccinations should be made mandatory unless a medical doctor certifies it would harm the child's health. (51.45% - 71 votes)

The new approach of requiring people seeking an exemption to talk it over with a doctor first seems about right. (28.26% - 39 votes)

Mandatory vaccination requirements should be repealed. Keep government out of private affairs! (20.29% - 28 votes)

Married New York Democrat Rep. Anthony Weiner's admission that he was sending inappropriate sexual tweets to women got us to wondering what you think.

It's not really cheating if you don't have any physical contact with a person. (13.02% - 171 votes)

If you have lust in your heart and then you tweet it to someone, you're cheating. (56.74% - 745 votes)

After Weiner resigns I'll give you my opinion. (30.24% - 397 votes)

The Columbian reported recently that 50 firefighters in Clark County made more than $100,000 last year with one as high as $165,000 a year. And that doesn't include benefits and pension. I'm thinking:

These folks are at the ready to save our lives. Whatever we pay them, it isn't enough. (27.11% - 356 votes)

How much more can taxpayers afford to give out? Somebody has got to get this under control! (45.39% - 596 votes)

Most of their calls have nothing to do with fighting a fire. They get paid to wait for a call. Where do I sign up? (27.49% - 361 votes)
