How important is it for the government to build charging stations for electric cars?

Very important. Without a network of charging stations, fewer people will be able to use these greener autos. (12.11% - 27 votes)

Somewhat important. The government should sponsor some of these, but private efforts should fund charging stations on major corridors and in cities. (17.04% - 38 votes)

Looks like many of us in the county will finally be able to vote on a proposed sales tax to fund the operation of a proposed light rail system connecting Portland to Vancouver. I'm thinking:

If Vancouver ever wants to begin to consider itself a player in the big city world, we need light rail. So I'm in favor of this sales tax. (20.84% - 499 votes)

I'm against light rail so -- by extension -- I'm against this sales tax. (59.67% - 1,429 votes)

I'm actually in favor of light rail but we need to find a different way to fund light rail operation other than a sales tax. (19.50% - 467 votes)

The Vancouver City Council is considering a proposal for an employee head tax to pay for operations and maintenance of light rail. This would be a primary way to raise the $2.57 million in annual operation costs. I'm thinking:

I love this idea. Rather than tax individuals with a sales tax, let's have the businesses pay for it. (9.15% - 53 votes)

Screwy idea. If you raise costs on businesses they will have to raise costs on their customers. Or maybe even go out of business. (74.27% - 430 votes)

No opinion really but sometimes we're better off if politicians do nothing rather than try something, because when they try something it usually means asking for more money. (16.58% - 96 votes)

What's your take on elected officials?

Most are trying hard, do the right thing and are good people. (10.70% - 92 votes)

Yes. Most of this year's graduates have what they need to succeed, whether it be at college, at work or in the military. (8.08% - 16 votes)

No. High schools don't do well enough at teaching the basics, let alone give students enough education for their future. (75.76% - 150 votes)
