Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes just received a 17 percent raise which amounted to $30,000, bringing his salary to $199,000 a year. Is he worth it?

Yes, he's doing a great job and when you do a salary comparison, $199,000 a year is reasonable. (10.89% - 161 votes)

No, doing a great job doesn't always translate to a huge raise. If the city can't afford to maintain parks and fix roads, it can't afford to give out a raise like this. (76.52% - 1,131 votes)

The hiring of State Senator Don Benton as the county's Environmental Services director has now cost the county $250,000 to settle a lawsuit. Who should pay for that?

Taxpayers. That's simply the way it works. Ultimately the county "is us." So we have to pony up in situations like this. (11.69% - 149 votes)

It should come out of the pockets out of Commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke. They rammed that hire through the backdoor in order for the M&M; boys to get their buddy on the payroll. (84.86% - 1,082 votes)
