 The Columbian New Media Group

The New Media Group is responsible for columbian.com, pdxguide.com, clarkcountyhomes.com, columbiantalk.com and columbianshop.com. We also maintain The Columbian Publishing Co.'s electronic archives and custom research services.

Our mission is to be our communities' most important source of information.

Our values include a commitment to do well by doing good, and to focus on the emerging needs of consumers. We view our various constituencies as customers of equal value whose roles as consumers, sources, advertisers, competitors and partners intertwine and create interdependence.

columbian.com is a searchable, personalized community resource, intended to facilitate interaction with and among our customers, both advertisers and consumers.

columbian.com is intensely local and intimate. Creating community is the primary goal of columbian.com. Community can be defined by interest, but always will have a geographic component as well. We will define community as inclusive, incorporating the voices of individual consumers and affiliated businesses.

The Columbian has been a pioneer in the new media arena, beginning with Info-Line in August 1991 and Classroom Connection in September 1993. We went live with columbian.com in July 1994 and with pdxguide.com in 2000.
