After receiving his B.A. in Journalism from San Francisco State University, Zach first worked as a staff photographer at the Marin Independent Journal just north of San Francisco. Next he went on to The Daily Republic in Fairfield, Calif. before coming to The Columbian in 2007. Zach's favorite part of being a newspaper photographer is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and gaining the perspective that comes with it. Zach's work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, National Press Photographers Association and the Associated Press.
