Am I ranting HC? You bet I am, I am sick and tired of watching Vancouver implode. I see businesses closing by the week, streets so rutted, pot holes, crevasses big enough to pop tires, trash everywhere on the streets, parks going un-mowed, weeds abound, house after house with a for sale or for rent sign and it sits for months empty. Businesses closing, at this rate we will all be driving to Portland to by groceries, see a doctor to even have our hair cut.
I've been disgusted with the way this town has been ran for a very long time and as I see it, it's not getting better but worse! This was a wonderful community when first coming here, now, I'm actually ashamed of it.
Our neighborhood in Gresham looks like a ghetto now. Go to Gresham and follow LR down to downtown. Neighborhood after neighborhood you will see what it has done to the area. It maybe just fine for downtown but not for neighborhoods and small business.
If it comes here you will see a change to the like that will make you run screaming you want out of this town.
Oregon allowed LR in, now the people are taxed over taxed and taxed more to the point the schools are suffering. Many have and are moving here for the schools. My neighbor that has a daycare in her home, out of the 12 kids she cares for, 9 of them are Portland area transplants due to the schools. Do we really want THAT here in Vancouver? Do we really want to down grade our school systems so that LR can run what 2-3 miles in Vancouver?
I just have to jump in here and touch on a few subjects that have been talked about. So bare with me.
1. If any of you that say Madore has the attitude (and I am NOT sticking up for him, didn't vote for him so don't go there) of "It's my way or no way", then you really haven't been in this area for long. Royce Pollard was exactly the same way. If you say he wasn't, then I have a island for sell. I know I have lived in Vancouver for 35 yrs. This doesn't mean what the 2 commissioners did and tried to do right or what they will do in the future wrong. The government is suppose to be "for the people, by the people" is it not? You find dirty underhanded dealings going on, you have every right by law to stand up and voice it and fight to change it.
2. In the 35 yrs we have been here in Vancouver, we have seen planning and building run amok. Here there, any where there was a spot of land they slapped up fast food to housing projects, mini malls, garbage tracks of junk. Never taking in the consideration the impact it would have on our infrastructure to daily lives of us citizens. It killed downtown. Now they want to bring in LR to further damage our city and it's residences. We didn't just move here from Gresham we ran here to get away from the LR. I thank our real estate person we had then everyday for having the insight to inform us about the LR all those years ago.
My point was earlier when this mess with M&M broke is that if locally government is IMO this corrupt, what do all of you think federal is?
Now that in the hearings on Benghazi have broke wide open and we are finding out the dirty truth and the media pretty much covering up the trial of Gosnell on the horrors of killing aborted babies that were alive, by cutting their spines at the neck, I am truly disgusted with government local, state, fed and mankind to allow such things to happen.
manthou last night was nothing like what we went through years ago with the county for a neighborhood park and widening of street for not more than a block in my neighborhood. The people were allowed to speak, where many times with us that never happened. There would be 3 to 5 of us each Wednesday go to speak. Took 12 yrs and us annexed into the city to get it done. SO now instead of looking into 6+ acres of nasty dangerous under bush that harbored drug abusers, bums and yes sex offenders, (saw one with my own eyes) one lane street in front of my home, we now have a wonderful park that families come with their little ones to enjoy the equipment, play T-ball, practice soccer, even have had a few wedding reception and family reunions there. Now it is much safer for the kids to walk through to school or to catch the buses to the middle and high schools. Anyway, I'm glad people were allowed to speak last night unlike yrs ago when we were silenced.
