As an Independent voter and life-long resident of Vancouver, and as a person who distrusts politicians, I trust Monica Stonier's support for families, businesses, and education much more than Paul Harris' words and his desire once again for power. Stonier seems to be a true outsider who wants to get involved to help our local area; Harris is the typical partisan politician who plays the same game as the rest of them.
But, I do find some of your comment comical. With the disregard for voters and taxpayers being shown in Olympia today, Stonier's claim of "focusing on shoring up education and helping families who are struggling as a result of the recession" sounds like code for the very partisan actions we have seen in Olympia for far too long that put us in this predicament.
Is Harris any better? I don't know. But one thing for certain, we need major changes in Olympia if we are to survive.
More pie in the sky Robin Hood IS the "same game."
To boned: I see your question in my email, but not here, I don't know why. The patch is for the 1st Aviation Brigade. I was with C Troop 7/17th Air Cav, July '69 to Jan '71, Central Highlands.
Thanks for the info, Lew! You presented great points and questions, but talking to his supporters is like talking to a post! I'm still amazed and questioning the various "job" descriptions - 1st article was self-employed accountant/tax preparer, then no, employed by construction firm as budget co-ordinator (or something like that), then no- not employed, working as a "consultant" on a pro-bono basis... this guy can't get a story straight! That questionable poll business stinks, too! It is no wonder all of his web pages have now been re-directed to one campaign page. Easier to keep track of the "story".
If we spent only a fraction of what we do now for 'defense' and not offense, yes, actually defending our country, no one could prevail against us. How about we stop paying for Israel. How about we stop invading other countries. If we stop using the CIA to overthrow and install other governments, these countries would be friends and not enemies, example Iraq, Iran! If you agree with the Vietnam and Iraq wars, we can have no further discussion because it will show that you believe the lies the government tells about them and are incapable of independent thought.
From what you write, you seem to believe in taking the fight to our enemies? Those are the exact justifications for all evil aggressors throughout every age, example Nazi Germany. Hitler's justifications were communists and terrorists. Learn about history before you claim to know about the present.
Sorry for being so belligerent, but I hate warmongers and those who agree with them. Sorry for assuming you are one if you are not.
Thanks for your service - I have a hard time speaking against people who fought for my country - but don't you believe that democrats (such as Patty Murray) are doing their best to care for our veterans? They aren't the ones trying to cut benefits or lower wages - the GOP are notoriously short changing our veterans.
Hi Lew. I appreciate your forthright comments. While I am not a blogger, I have read the Jacks story with interest. Corruption abounds. It is appalling that the Columbian will or report everything. I am suing Jacks and the City of Vancouver for his unethical conduct. The evidence is overwhelming. In fact it is so upsetting to the City of Vancouver that they have made a monetary offer. I am just appalled that the Columbian would cover this up . . .except of course Scott Campbell is beholden to the City for saving his neck. BTW I was Scott's neighbor for 11 years.

Isn't that what is great about America?

Lew, I had to say something. I was hoping that bobbo would get freaked out. Actually if you write it correctly, it makes pretty good sense.

Lew, it's not like you to toss out your usual "gentleman" behavior and write such dribble. Shame on you.

LEW,
"pdx, if you ever read with both of your eyes open, you'd see where I have no opposition, but have questions that I would think all would ask before he sign on to another project with any potential of becoming a white elephant."
I apologize...I reread your comments and I agree.
