Donors help pay for dog’s surgery

Seems there are more compassionate people here then there are non. Which is a good thing because if most of us were like a small few of the characters on here, Chooper would not have met his goal and can get the surgery. It does not matter if it was a dollar needed or fifty thousands dollars, people would still have their panties in a bunch and think it should go to someone or something else. Cannot please everyone, even when they should be pleased it seems. Those who want to help animals, will. Those that want to help people, will. And those that want to do nothing, except bitch, will do that as well. I am proud of myself. Of my choices in life and proud to do good, especially when my good helps animals. For those that feel this money should have gone to a human agency of their choice, feel free to go make a difference and raise that money for whatever cause you see fit. Good luck to you. With the attitude you have, consider yourself lucky to even get a penny. If the cause you want to raise money for is yourself, have at it but dont be too disappointed when others do not see your cause as worthy. Whatever cause you deem worthy, just do for that cause and leave the others alone is what I am saying.

FYI Willie WANKER, I am Vegan and dont eat animals or any animal products so you can take your McD's and choke on it. I go by facts n what the surgery CAN and DOES cost. It's called research. Try it, you may learn a thing or two. I am also not now nor ever will be a hoarder of anything but a big heart. Now go, pretend to have a life, and try to sell that bridge to anyone you can.

Mr Walker: BRAVO!!! To some people their pets ARE their kids. If you want it to happen you will find a way to make it happen. I had to two years ago when one of my dogs almost died. Had to borrow and beg, but i did it and would do it again. I hope if you ever need help with one of your own, that you get that help, and will not be too proud to ask for the help either. Thank you for your intelligent answer.

Ace_High. You are welcome and yes the only evil placed upon animals is placed there by humans and animals CAN be cured of their evils with love and care.
If you could give a starving dog a dollar, he would buy food to feed his family.

Occnc: To answer an earlier question, I am ONE who will go without paying a bill due to my donation. I would do it again for an animal as well. They shut my internet off, i can go to the library. They shut my power off I can build a fire. Humans have choices. Animals do not.

Willie: I really dont care what JP Morgan supports or does not support, but when i validate that information, I will NOT support them if it is true. The surgery Chopper is getting is not easy to do, like all surgeries are and it can cost $25,000 as it has for another dog, so this is a GREAT discount. Again, you dont give a damn about animals or this dog in particular, so why are you even bothering to come here and post? You obviously did not donate nor would you, so what is your point in any of this? Have a nice day. Just pray with your attitude you are never in need

To anyone who says, "It's just a dog:"

You are the reason rescues exist, why thousands of dogs die everyday in shelters, homeless and unwanted.

You are the backyard breeder or puppy miller, who looks at a dog and sees dollar signs, who cares nothing for the inevitable decline in the dog's health after having litter upon litter of puppies, nor for the countless dogs who will now die in shelters because the puppies you breed have taken up their homes.

You are the supporter of these backyard breeders and puppy mills, willing to pay $500 or more for a puppy rather than $90 for a rescued dog, because having a pedigree to show off to friends is more important than saving the life of a true and loyal companion.

You are the one who trains dogs to fight, whether for sport or protection, thus abusing your dog and bringing the call for the extermination of an entire breed of perfectly wonderful dogs.

You are the one who thinks nothing of putting your dog to sleep because it doesn't go with the furniture, or it urinates on the carpet, while at the same time balking at the thought of spanking an unruly child.

You are the one who dumps your dog at the shelter when you move, because you're too lazy to find pet-friendly housing.

You are the one who keeps your dog tied up outside, only bothering to provide the occasional bowls of food and water and possibly a tree for shade, because after all, it is just a dog, right?

To the 90 year old woman in the nursing home, abandoned by her family, yearning for companionship, stroking the fur of a new friend with the words "Therapy Dog" on its side, it's not just a dog.

To the young child who has become literate by reading aloud to a dog in the classroom, it's not just a dog.

To the person with skin cancer who had it detected by a dog when the doctors couldn't, it's not just a dog.

To the blind man who now can see through his companion, it's not just a dog.

To anyone who has been in bed, sick with the flu, and has felt the warmth of that cold nose as he curls up between your legs to give you comfort, it's not just a dog.

To anyone who comes home from a hard day of work to be greeted by someone who's so happy to see you they can't stop wiggling, it's not just a dog.

To anyone who has cried at Old Yeller, because they know what it's like to lose their best friend, to know that their friend is suffering and though it may be hard, the best thing to do is to help them go peacefully, it's not just a dog.

When you say, "It's just a dog," you really mean, "Why should I care about it? Dogs aren't important. They're useless. They don't give anything to us, so why should I give them anything in return? Why do I have to care about their feelings? They don't matter in the grand scheme of things. It's just a dog."

To everyone who says, "It's just a dog," I just have this to say to you:

"You're just a human."
"Just a lazy uneducated careless human".

Like some of you, I CHOOSE to help animals. People and children CAN and DO get medical help, even if it comes from state funds. Animals do not. There is shelters for the homeless, food banks to which I readily give food to, medical clinics etc etc. The list goes on. They are for HUMANS. Humans know where to go for help, yes even with bills and rent. Welfare helps them all out when they need it and in many cases, when they dont NEED it but choose to live that way.
Williwonka, I personally do not care how you view this world or animals. I just hope you do not have any animals in your life because I feel bad for THEM. As for my personal animals, they are not a mess nor will they be a mess when i leave this world. Any animals that outlive me, WILL BE cared for for the rest of THEIR lives. It is called a will and since I have a vast network of people that care about animals, those peole WILL care for them if family is not available to do so.

Ace_High, I obviously agree with YOU on all aspects. MANY people CHOOSE to be out on the streets. They refuse offers of help, therefore not making me feel bad for them. Like you I CHOOSE animals and choose to help and volunteer with them. I find comfort from my dogs, and when the rest of the world has walked out on you, you can still rely on your pets to be there.

WhiteJosh: I wish you the best in your life. You will need it. To have the attirude you have, please dont ever have a dog. If you see it as Just A Dog, you are JUST a Human, and one day you will need help, and the world will turn its back on you too.

Willie again: Chopper does NOT have an owner. His owner brought him there to have him euthanized, therefore solving the HUMANS problem, not the dogs. The easy way out once again for that human.

Awesome news. Just goes to show that many people in this community care about the animals and their wellbeing even though a certain someone seems a bit jealous the money didnt go to HIM for a night out on the town. Hmmmm, I go without alot, so my dogs can have what they need. I dont need movies, or dinner out, but my dogs need to eat. So Chopper will have his surgery and hopefully find the perfect home, with people that love him for who he is :)

Gentle giant of a dog needs help

I love to see happy enidings such as this even with the few party poopers such as williewonka. We as a community of caring people pulled togather to make this happen :)

To Ace_High, maybe call Dr Slocum and ask what he can do and if it is something he speacilizes in. That is most important as not every Vet can do this surgery.
To WillieWonka: Maybe if you had gone to meet Chopper as I have in the past you would think twice before being against HELPING the matter.I have spent ALOT on emergency surgery for one of my own dogs and would beg and borrow again to do so if needed. There is also more help available to your friend that needs vitamins then there are for any animal. So you say it is just a dog, I say yes it is, another very special dog, and I would help out any animal before I would help a human. Why because they are JUST humans, and humans can help themselves before an animal can! My family found a way to help Chopper today and it was difficult for us, but you know what, we will go without before the animals do. Any animal!
