RedsRBest: Gresham Union High School Gopher, Class of '76. Oh boy do I know what you are talking about. I remember when Rockwood was just about the same capacity as Orchards before Fourth Plain Blvd. was widened and before 117th/SR 503 was widened. I lived in Rockwood before Fred Meyers went in and the little grocery store was next to the Rockwood Library location. Rockwood Middle School was also still there on 182nd Avenue. Ironic that I have also lived just north of Orchards since before Fred Meyers went in on 117th as well (31 years). I have seen both locations swing into high gear with rapid progression. Geez..., on the side road by the old Firestone Tire Store right there on 181st by the freeway is where I first learned to drive a car. My last memory of Rockwood was walking on a moonlit night with my beau in the park near 175th and Main. I have been married to him for 31 years now. Yeah, I know Rockwood how it used to be. Can't walk in THAT park any more. Now I don't even recognize the old neighborhood. Thanks Trimet!...:(These times, they are a changing! Reds, got a question for you which is off the subject. Do you by any chance know the name of the old Strawberry Farm that used to be on 181st and Sandy Boulevard? As a teenager, I used to pick berries there during berry season. I sure would like to find out the name.
Red, sorry to hear about your son getting hurt. As far as the berry farms go, I'm not sure if that's the berry farm I'm thinking of. This one was on the north side of Interstate 84. Ashoff sounds familiar, but I'm thinking the last name was something like Alden or Arden or something like that. You're right. I like the Barn too. Used to see turtles in the creek behind it. I also like the farms on Sauvie Island as well.
