Businesses key youth renaissance on Main Street

While I agree it may not be worth driving in the rain from the 'burbs to Uptown Village just for a cup of coffee, I'd like to dispel the myth that there's nothing worthwhile here in downtown Vancouver, especially in the Uptown Village neighborhood (Main Street south of 4th Plain). But maybe I'm biased because I live in the neighborhood, and I enjoy walking and not being tied to a car.

The last 10 years have seen a significant revitalization of this area. Within walking distance from my house are several good restaurants, coffee shops, a bakery, a local produce store, art galleries, a library, a couple of grocery stores, nice parks (including a National Historic Reserve), a farmers' market, and a movie theater. And as for parking, I don't think there are any parking meters on Main Street in Uptown Village.
