I respect you because you are veteran that served in Vietnam. Please don't LOL at those of us who don't agree with the way our Republican leaders want to lead us.
*I-5 crosses the Columbia River on two spans built about 50 years apart, during eras that are gone forever, Fountain said.*
*The 1917 span was a product of an era when highways were overseen by the Department of Agriculture, he said. And almost 100 years ago in Vancouver, the bridge “was a way for a farming county to connect with a major market,” Fountain said.*
*The second bridge span resulted from the national transportation expansion following World War II, when President Dwight Eisenhower promoted the interstate freeway system. Ike had been inspired by the autobahn system he used in Germany while leading the Allies to victory in WWII.*
Isn't this enough for the anti tax crowd to realize that we need to update the most important piece of infrastructure in our local community?
*Why is it leftists always want Big Brother to take care of the lazy when they can contribute to charities to help the lazy of their choice.*

Maybe because we don't consider them lazy and because we are to busy working so that we can pay the tax burden that has been put on us by giving the wealthy their tax breaks.
Perhaps you could show some facts on how tax cuts to the wealthy will pull us out of our current situation.
No one has ever said take all of the wealth. Reducing the deficit will take some cuts in spending and some tax increases on those who can afford them the most. Most of all it will take time.
Wasn't the "Bush-implemented plan" another one of those great Republican policies that were incorporated without being paid for. At least the insurance companies are making huge profits at the expense of the American tax payer.
*The problem, the left refuses to to cut social spending with the right caving in to military spending cuts along with the right agreeing to more welfare spending.*

What military spending cuts? Aren't we still in two wars of choice?
You must believe that the so called democracy of the citizens of a foriegn country is more important than the survival of the poorest citizens of this country.
Psst … wanna buy a bridge?
Retro-fit it. I would agree.

Your idea would mean that wealthy people would have to pay more taxes. That completely goes against the Republican philosophy.

I sure don't mean to answer for fiscaltiger, but how about eliminating Title X and other programs that help the poor maintain a basic existence?
The Republicans keep or give another tax break to the wealthiest in our country and to pay for it cut programs to the nations poorest.
To me that is taking from the poor and giving to the wealthy.
