As for Hood River, maybe it's all that high tech equipment making people crazy. Between Insitu, UTC Aerospace Systems and SMK Tech, who knows what these people are being exposed to.

Oh Lou, it might not be clear to you but we all know what's going on.

Hey Lou, research the gas prices, will you? Up almost a buck in the last month, somethin' ain't right!

Good morning all, I will pose this question then I'm off to work. Catch you all later.

Can anyone tell me why gas is going up so high? Is it because it's summer (coming) or the weather on the East coast or what? Any ideas? Thanks.

From Ron Goodman on the recall page:

The Board of Commissioners Rules of Practice, the governing document, last revised February, 2013, states in Rule XVI. Appointment, Review, and Removal of Department Heads Para. A: Appointment and removal of all non-elected County department heads shall be made by the County Administrator with the advise and consent of the County Board of Commissioners.

As I see it, until and unless the Board of Commissioners votes to suspend their Rules of Practice, and I've seen no evidence this was done, the Commissioners can vote up or down to confirm the County Administrator's pick; but, they don't get to pick his pick. The County Administrator's selection process is governed by the 206-page County Human Resource Policy manual. That manual is in place to ensure equal opportunity in announcement, recruitment, and selection, of a candidate best qualified to serve the people of the County.

So, I don't believe the commissioners were within their rights in the manner they most likely exercised those rights, and I'm not at all certain Equal Opportunity Act violations didn't happen at the same time. The lawyers will tell us soon enough on both counts.

***I have to agree***

"Guys, we are approaching 600 comments this week. It has been a marathon. Congratulations to everyone even the trolls."

Seriously? You counted? I hope you aren't on your scooter, it's going to be slippery tonight. Drive carefully.

Well here's a question for our little group;

Anybody know why gas has gone up $.40 in the last two weeks? It makes no sense to me.

Roger, I think that link you posted was the original post that Gray was hired under since it says it is a new department and will be put together from employees from other areas. I don't think Benton would be qualified under this description.

Morning all:

Dee, and all you ladies out there, happy Mother's day.

To answer your question, in my mind, both of your questions deserve a "yes" answer. The process was ignored, he has no actual qualifications for the position and I don't think he has any idea of what his uneducated actions could result in.

HC, you are 100% correct about Lairds column today. It was great. I do have to add that I was one of the ones that bucked the system a little in that being a Democrat, I voted for Boldt. I'm not psychic but a blind man could have and SHOULD have seen the writing on the wall in that election but as we all know, money talks and in this case, BS stayed right where it is.

I have never actually met Debbie but have had several "discussions" with her. I have never quite figured out why she couldn't get her new license plates installed on her car for over a month. She said she had been stopped twice by the police but didn't get a ticket because she had the plates in her car, just not ON the car.

I have found her statements to be disjointed, scattered and not coherent but in person, who knows.

What Bill Baron was thinking was "can't wait until I'm out of here, this guy is driving me crazy. Dreaming about Hawaii, oh yea, sand, surf, many Mojitos! Ahh that's the life!
