Thanks, NotBuyinIt. I could not agree more, that the money came from all of us. That's why I used the phrase "wholly ours as Americans" in the column.

Letter: Now is not the time for a new bridge

The letter has been changed to include the correct cost of the I-35 Bridge in Minneapolis. Sorry for the mistake.

Thanks again, all. Roger, congrats on your BBQ ribs. I'm a big BBQ and smoker man myself. Slow-cooked brats are on the grill as we speak. My specialties are cedar-plank salmon and cherry smoked prime rib ... yum yum. I hope everyone (1) is having a great Memorial Day and (2) remembered the countless sacrifices so many have made to allow us to live, work, play and love in the greatest country in the history of humankind. Tomorrow: Back to the best job in the world.

Thanks all, for reading the column and for weighing in. During discussions on this issue I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase, "exactly what's wrong with our country today." As I wrote in the column, I agree that the rules in the federal funding game are rotten. But until the rules are changed, how does diverting Florida's infrastructure money to 15 other states cut federal spending or reduce the deficit? It does neither. And if Scott's decision was so great, shouldn't his approval ratings be soaring?

How did Judgment Day go for you?

JudyD, You're right, when it comes to dancing, I'm definitely jealous of Kirstie Alley. With her self-deprecating sense of humor, I suspect that, if she read what I wrote, she'd laugh at it, too. Kirstie is enjoying a great comeback.

How did Judgment Day go for you?

After deadline, I thought of a great play on words that I should have used. Instead of Harold Camping's Family Radio being a non-profit, it's just a non-prophet ...

How did Judgment Day go for you?

Thanks, all, for reading the column. I'm not much prepared for deep theological debates, especially on the first day after the end that never began. Hazel Dell Parade was great, by the way. Middle-school bands were particularly impressive. Have a great week!
