Mr. Legendra,

I find it very ironic that Mr. Reinhold accused me of being a racist and a “clan member” in the article you wrote "Audience comment draws B.G. councilman's ire on Facebook" on April 6th. When apparently in 2008 his son was in some trouble regard some racist emails sent to another council member. Please check the link above.

Mr. Lagendre,

This is regarding the article you wrote "Audience comment draws B.G. councilman's ire on Facebook" on April 6th. I was the one who said the misinterpreted comment.

In my defense, this was my first time I have ever approach public officials in this manner and unfortunately I choose some words, to describe a situation I have witnessed, that I should not have. My apologies to the city council members I offended, I was very nervous and I made the mistake of speaking without thinking. My intension was not to offend anyone.

It is truly upsetting that Mr. Reinhold did not focus on any of the facts I had mention but only a poorly stated comment I made. I am by no means a racist, Mr. Reinhold. I believe in America and the process of Legal Immigration. One of the beautiful attributes of America is it diversity.

However, Mr. Reinhold I would like to thank you for pointing out my flaws for this was truly a learning experience for me, and I will remember in the future when speaking to public officials to be very careful with my words because they can be misinterpreted and turned against me very quickly. It is sad you attacked me on a social network site, and I find it very upsetting you posted hurtful things about someone you don’t even know.

Thank you JosephineW thank you for coming to my defense, as I said to you in the hall after the meeting I truly meant no harm and the comment come out wrong.

Immigrants take steps to the American dream

I am sorry if I offend anyone. Yes, people deserve a chance at happiness and safety but if you are here illegally for any amount of time, you should not be able to file for legal residences. You have broken the law and this country does not need any more criminals. I grew up in California, and I know some of you will say something stupid like I am not a resident of the Pacific Northwest so go home. Anyway, I watch towns, schools, businesses and communities in California be overtaking by Mexicans, and many are illegal. Many schools have 70% - 95% Hispanics, and many of these students do not speak English. I have gone into business and cannot receive help because the people working there do not speak English. I have been turn down for employment because I do not speak Spanish, not because of a lack of education; I have a masters in history and my teaching certificate. There are sanctuary cities, that the police cannot deport illegal immigrants. The worst part is the gangs, drugs and violence that seem to consume these communities. I can go on for hours and possibly write a book. I feel for this woman in the article but it does not stop with just one person in need of help, one immigrant usually equals mother, father, brothers, sisters, children, aunts, uncles and cousins. Then all these illegals want their families and so on. In the last six years, I have watched an increase in the Hispanic population grow here in the Northwest and I am afraid this beautiful area is going to turn into California. I believe in the constitution and the opportunity to apply for US citizenship but not if you are going to come here illegally and break the law. We need to “protect our borders, language and culture” before it is too late.
