I'm a University of Florida graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. I've been to every state in the country on a work assignment with USA TODAY and was lucky enough to appear on the NBC Today show and CBS morning show because of a crazy story we did here at The Columbian.
I've been editor here since 2000 and love living in the Great Northwest. Clark County's residents are great and I love how concerned they are about making this a better place to live.
I'm married to a wonderful lady (Maley) and have a 21 year old daughter (Danni) who is in her senior year at Northwestern, just outside of Chicago.

Regarding the Storro case... it would be nice to hear the perspective of other self injurers.
However, self injurers are usually very secretive about this behavior and the vast majority won't even admit to it, much less broadcast it to a nation.
I have struggled with self injury for years.. and I say this woman is a liar and a fraud. There's so many discrepancies in what she did and how she did it. It's just all wrong from a self-harming perspective.
I wonder if other self-injurers would agree and call this woman a fake as I certainly do.

Sure, I would speak to you. I wouldn't want my name, etc, released though in any publication.

Lou, just curious when you say that the Storro story gets the most views if they are 'unique' site visits or total (same user visiting many times). It is truly a fascinating story and you and your team are doing an excellent job covering it.
p.s. will you have a reporter at Kurk Kirby's trial on Friday?

I'd really like to see the Columbian add a "like" button to people's comments like they do on Facebook & news blogs/comments. A lot of times I like what people have to say, but don't want to add a comment just to say I agree with you. Thank you for your consideration.

G' morning, Lou. Looks like you have a new citizen editor/moderator on Press Talk. :)
Put her on salary, but don't pay by the hour. :)

Lou, the below post and question was asked during the Madore/Levitt comment discussion. Shortly after you asked people to stay on topic - not a problem - but can you answer my question?
Thanks!
Good afternoon Lou,
Along the lines of media coverage, I might be going a little off topic but this brings about a question of Columbian coverage regarding the "missing Mayor" and the City of Battle Ground State of the City speech.
On the comment section there have been numerous questions asked (myself included) wanting to understand where the BG Mayor was and what exactly is a "Scheduling Conflict". While you may want to glance at the comments, it appears both sides (city officials and Columbian) don't want to follow this to ground. As the media guy you are - it only brings about questions and speculation. While I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation, I believe it's your responsibility to follow it up and provide the reason for his absence. Or are your reporters not responding to comment inquiries or choosing only the comments they want to respond to?
I'm wholly disappointed - a city speech is the "super bowl" for any politician/Mayor and you guys blew this coverage and an obvious question to be asked - sorry to say.
So, like I asked Marissa with no response, I'll ask you - What say you Lou?
