What strikes me a little strange is that some confuse having the *"right"* to do something with *"it's the right thing to do."*
When folks use the fallback position *"the law says I can do it"* they are by extension saying *"it doesn't matter if it's right."*
Sort of like elected state officials having the right to charge taxpayers for dry cleaning.
So when you hear that argument, appreciate they are avoiding the real discussion. And when you hear the argument *"well, others did it before them"* well that's also avoiding the discussion.
