Say something...
your right about facebook. it is a place that you can express how you feel or situations that might have resulted because of a persons opinion. guilty by association is not entirely true or fair.
Your comments assume that my what my assinine neighbors have said is true.
The truth of the matter is...there is only one person in the neighborhood making a complaint, and that is only because I told them if they did not corral their son and his behavior of harrassing my daughter to the point that she was scared to go home alone....I would have no choice but to take legal action to keep my child safe. Nothing more, nothing less...than that.
I can only think that if an entire neighborhood of people were "out to get me" then I might have had an inkling of it before now. And if things are really that bad in my neighborhood...then why do other neighbors still allow their children to not only play with mine, but play with them IN MY OWN YARD.
I dont think your looking at this from a fair angle, is all I am saying.
Damian may be 17 but has the mentallity of a 14 year old..I have records to prove that..however what he did was wrong and he has to pay for his bad choices..I just dont want it to be for the rest of his life...
Thanks for your post -- I went a little nuts last night but I've actually been fairly supportive of the columbian until now...I hope you're right about Jim Moeller... =)
Manthou, I'm still around. I've just decided to stop posting for awhile till the rules stiffen up a bit...and even if I do post, it is only to share links which might enlighten others to do their research before continuing. Also, I find it quite interesting that a certain two posters who felt compelled to gang up on my posts in an attempt to discredit anything I had to say. Excellent human behavior study if I say so myself. I elected to stand down for awhile just to let the waters calm down. I hate talking politics and I feel this is the best way to eliminate my 2 cents in the discussion on politics. I wish peace to you my Hellenic friend.
You are probably right about noworries or any of the other new number of commentor names that started targeting fiscaltiger after he was not banished from her kingdom. Yes, freedom of speech! Or as much freedom as the columbian allows you.
Thanks for the comments. I enjoy reading everything here. I don't get too involved in the back and forth, unless I get on a roll kidding with someone. I worry for GO because she seems kind of lost lately and I hope she finds what she is searching for.
A spiritual adviser of mine once asked me: What would your life be like if you realized that every situation does not need to be controlled? I try to remember that question as I proceed through this absurd life we live!
Hi Manthou. I'd just like to say to you that I'm responding to a comment you made on fiscal's wall. You had commended fiscal on discovering I was noworries. I'd just like to set the record straight and let you know that noworries was not me. In fact, noworries is someone else who was sharing our computer with our permission.
Thank you, Manthou. I did indeed write to her. My post in The Columbian was an excerpt of the letter. It took two extra weeks to print here because it was too long and they made me shorten it. But they finally printed it!
Thank you for your kind words, manthou. For what it's worth, we all get caught up in our lives sometimes and forget what we try to focus upon and what is truly important. I know, I can be a stubborn woman sometimes and tend to continue on my own tangent but it's because I have compassion for what I believe in as you have witnessed in my comments on Lou's Press Talk. I hope I did that with my questions with David Madore.
My only wish on this website is for personal attacks to end just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view. Soapbox4u reminded me that "Two wrongs don't make it right," and I have to say...they are absolutely right. I admit my faults. I am not perfect.
It is definitely a learning experience everyone could benefit from while posting if they'd just stop and think before clicking on "Post Comment." Civility goes a long way for sure.
Thank you for the great laugh!!! It reminds me of my parents or my thio(s)when I would wear basically something that wasn't a nun outfit when I would go to one of restaurants in Portland. You should check out on youtube Mr. Panos Blog! Hilarious! But this one is my all time favorite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkvb0a...
I noticed your post on vulnerable children/work. CASA, Children's Home Society, Center for Children's Justice, DCFS, so many local. No wonder we get along. Those funding cuts? It's only going to get worse...
Poking sticks? Of course, curiosity called. So many of my posts were regurgitated on it's wall. Just wanted to know if there was a presence still there.
If you check the comments section on the latest Jim Jacks story, you will notice that my comments have been deleted again. You responded before Lou could delete them. I have posted my comment back to you but it is below as well. We shall see how quickly the comment is deleted again.
Yes Manthou, you are correct. And I am suing the City of Vancouver too. When I discovered the truth about Jacks I went to him and asked him to retract his lies. He was already a State Rep by then. He refused to help me. Instead he went to Ted Gathe and asked for protection. The City has agreed to represent him based on the fact that he was a former City employee and engaged in the defamation as part of his job duties. I shared this information with the Columbian, but they have refused to investigate further. If Jacks targeted me, he certainly has gone after others.
manthou! Just wanted to say adios! It appears as though unfettered opinion is coming to an end at the Columbian. It is so unpopular I am starting to wonder how much in$entive they have received! Anyway manthou I just wanted to say thank you so much for your opinions since I've started reading the C. Your comments are the only ones I make sure and don't miss. You advocate strongly for our children and education, and your commentary on issues are always thoughtful and full of insight. You lend people like me a bit of perspective to help cope with some of the societal ills that are so institutionally pervasive, offering hope and a bit of sunshine! Thank you for that! ~May the wind be at your back~ Captain Kirk
pdxtech91: about the only positive outcome of the Facebook requirement in the "high-rent" district of this online commentary, in my humble opinion, is the reduction of multiple sock puppet identities. I thought these multiple personalities from one commenter hungry for attention and dominance often co-opted an otherwise reasonable e-dialogue. This, rather than the negative content of posts, hindered the flow of diverse ideas more than anything.
We all have speculated about who owned the most online identities, but we will never really know, I guess.
I am surprised at your statement. The facebook requirement would make no difference for sock puppets using the forum. As for the "high-rent" district, it has been a pleasant experience to comment there - even with the occasional Lamer (mispelled on purpose) crock. I wish you well!
