Slowing down in my old age??? Cute, soapie. I was out hunting with my husband yesterday. If you call that slowing down...

My comments regarding Lou were strictly a tease.

Thanks for noticing though, Soapie!

BTW I haven't seen you posting as much on the articles...are you getting tired of the BS or do you post under another penname???

"Sybil" does not get the significance of your multiple "Deja Vu" posts, soapbox4u. Nor does she understand that Sybil sported multiple personalities.

I, however, appreciate the hidden message. :) Just wanted you to know that someone gets it.

Keep posting. I enjoy your humor and insights.

People address themselves to these comments in one or more interpretations. You can agree, reject or split decision these comments. According to your conditioning you produce the answer. Now you can feel omnipotent, elated, humorous, perplexed or whatever; you have arrived at an opinion about the matter. Now look at your answer, you know?

soapbox4u — January 13, 2011 at 7:33 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

"I'm entitled to an opinion" is often used in debates as a defence of a belief or stance on a subject. Whether it's used to end a debate (1) or to add weight to a person's position (2) it is equally useless as a debating tactic. Debates can only be resolved by presenting sound arguments with supporting evidence. Stating one's rights and entitlements adds nothing to the debating process. Having a right to an opinion does not make that opinion right.

soapbox4u — January 17, 2011 at 6:44 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

An opinion is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or topic, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts. Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented. However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analysing the supporting arguments.[1]

An opinion may be the result of a person's perspective, understanding, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. In casual use, the term opinion may refer to unsubstantiated information, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs.

Thank you for your picture, I'm sure your mother is very proud of you for coming out of the closet. You look lovely in the pink lipstick.

sokpop — February 23, 2011 at 9:03 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

It begins with you, soapie. Stop the abuse to yourself.

goldenoldie — February 24, 2011 at 8:41 a.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

""Fact is: I used to enjoy your comments, now I watch you behave the same as the one's you chastise when it's not going your way. It is a shame.""

Sooo...I should be allowing the harassment and false accusations by you and just accept it, soapbox4u? You know....clones and drones, Sybil, and other tactics you consistently feed to instigate needless arguments

I'll tell you what, soapie. You stop your daily attacks against me as well as trying to make accusations that other posters are me and I won't say anything else about you but you must make the first move, soapie.

goldenoldie — February 24, 2011 at 3:23 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

And Soapbox4u, I'm not here to "gain" an audience. I post on the Columbian because just like you, I exercise my freedom to make my voice be heard. The needless attacks could easily stop. And don't tell me there aren't personal attacks on me, soapie...and I refer to personal attacks on my family, even though we are just pennames. It ain't kosher, soapie and it's not acceptable behavior on the C. I am choosing to utilize the ignore feature key on those I know like to stir trouble. Why am I telling you this when you know there's tension between us? Because soapbox4u, I know you can make a good argument in context and I am willing to share in civil discussion with you without all the innuendos. If you are not, then I guess there's nothing else to say.

goldenoldie — February 24, 2011 at 3:40 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

"Two wrongs don't make it right."

And that goes both ways.

goldenoldie — February 24, 2011 at 4:52 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Fact is...

I am human. I'm not a machine and I share in civil discussion. If someone wants to ridicule me, I'm not one to sit back and take it. I will voice my opposition to the ridicule. Is that too much to comprehend?

goldenoldie — February 24, 2011 at 4:55 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

"Then to this end, you should expect what you get"

So I take that as a "No" reply. Apparently, my instincts were correct about you. Well, since civil discussion with me apparently won't be good enough for you, I suggest that if this is the route you prefer, we just ignore each other's comments from here on out.

And soapbox4u, nice name, nice condescending mannerism you possess. Matches the pissy picture you share.

Karma.

What's wrong, soapbox4u? Don't you like Beaches? I thought you might know how the food is there. I've been there a few times and have had the stuffed mushrooms and kalamari.

Nice view of the I-5 Bridge from there, too!

goldenoldie — March 26, 2011 at 6:47 a.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Aw...too bad, soapie. Cat got your tongue? Still waitin'.

BTW soapie, which side of the restaurant do you like to sit on? The West End, the Middle or the East End? I like the booths on the upper level. That way, you can get a panoramic view of the entire river... I-5 Bridge included. Summertime when the wind isn't blowing and the bees aren't attacking, it's nice to sit outside as well. Wonderful place to take a walk afterward on a warm sunny day. Just think how nice it would be to have that trolley car attached to the light rail line...moving right along on the roadway in front of all the venues on the waterfront. Wouldn't that be a nice taxpayers' addition???

goldenoldie — March 26, 2011 at 7:18 a.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

I hope you know I was just teasing you about Beaches. In the evening, the glow of the sunset reflecting like diamonds on the Columbia River with sailboats floating in the breeze is definitely a worthwhile sight. And if you haven't tried the stuffed mushrooms...they are definitely delicious.

Well, we ended up at A Touch of Athens and we weren't disappointed. Excellent food, great time...happy memories indeed.

I'm curious soapie. Will the event you attended at the Heathman be something that is publicized? It's nice to hear good news on the Columbian about those who are recognized in the community.

goldenoldie — March 28, 2011 at 2:42 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Well, something has to explain your keen ability to call out dysfunction when you see it, soap. Not much slips past you, I've noticed. :)

Cognitive dissonance, anyone?

manthou — March 28, 2011 at 7:28 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Soapie, I admit that I have taken a lot of comments too personally in the past. Life is a learning process no matter how young or how old we are.

Those off and on weeks that I took off away from the Columbian in recent months were not just "escapes from the comments." I guess you can say I've been doing some soul searching. Maybe you've noticed the gradual change, maybe not.

Seeking your inner self and realizing you are one of many and many can combine together as one is a wonderful exercise of healing of the inner soul; it is a great way to deal with what life throws you and you learn to recognize beyond the normal scope that life is just too precious to allow certain matters to control your thought processes and dictating your life. I guess it's kind of like the quest to achieve Chi.

Thank you for letting me know about CVTV and the event at Heathman's. I do not have cable television but I'll keep my eye on CVTV's schedule.

So many people within our county donate their time and their efforts to make our community better. I applaud those who do so.

Ahhh...it was the 9th Annual Caring Hearts Awards gathering!!! I went on the Innovative Services NW website and read the information on the recipients of the awards. What a wonderful way to honor those who give of their time and their hearts with no questions asked!

goldenoldie — March 30, 2011 at 5:55 a.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

You know soapbox, sometimes I feel the folks who give of their time just don't get enough recognition for their dedication, although I am aware that isn't their main purpose for volunteering, either.

How can I find out more about what the Caring Heart Society does? I have located a link for a one-time donation but not much else. Maybe you could direct me, soapbox4u.

goldenoldie — March 30, 2011 at 2:25 p.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Thanks again, soapbox4u. After watching the video on the link you provided, it compels me to want to make a difference. Looks like I'll be contacting Innovation Services NW soon...very soon.

Where are you, soapbox? We need your quick wit and depth of insights, ya know!

manthou — April 30, 2011 at 7:15 a.m. ( reply | | suggest removal )

Soapie, in the manner of self reliance and a couple who works together as one...you are right. Each individual should be capable of doing the job by themselves as that would be in effect the absolute description of self reliance, but it works much better if two heads can work together to achieve the goal intended.

LOL! Learn how to speak english, genius. There's only one question left: Did you learn to write from fiscaltiger, or is fiscaltiger just another name for you? Either way, your lazy, aimless, pathetic, empty, short posts aren't worth responding to. You'll have to have fun mangling the english language without my input.

Thanks for giving me your honest perspective of your Facebook comment experience, soap! I do miss your presence on the anonymous forums, but I understand why you do not miss the conflict!

BTW, I am not pdxtech91. The only identity I use is my maternal grandmother's surname. Before that, I was simply "MW".

Hope you can join us in the basement Forums every so often as soapbox4u, though. You added wit and wisdom, not to mention brevity! :)
