Insolent puppy, I indeed owe you an apology. I'm new to this forum, and I didn't carefully check out how it is formatted. I'm apparently a low-functioning genius. :-) As you pointed out, my comments should have been directed to JonAlldritt. I appreciate the correction.

Jean Terry, Perhaps if Israel hadn't murdered its way into existence, and perhaps if Israel wouldnt continue killing, starving and imprisoning innocent people as it steals ever more of their lands in violation of international law, then Israel wouldn't feel the need to protect itself from those who oppose its ongoing violence. "This stunt", as you call it, was an international effort of people from more than 80 countries, countries that have sponsored scores of UN resolutions that Israel ignores with impunity and protection from US veto power at the UN Security Council. The US alone, by protecting Israel from multiple war crimes charges, is as guilty as Israel. What you are asking people here to do is continue sponsoring crimes against humanity. Only one who is woefully ignorant of facts, or one who is a psychopath, would ask such a thing.
For facts that may relieve you of your apparent ignorance, please see:

insolent_puppy, please back up what you say here with facts, not mere erroneous opinion. For the framework of international law that Israel violated by murdering 9 and wounding scores in its act of piracy on the high seas:

And what are you trying to say when you scribble incoherently about traditional lands in the Middle East?

Also, the cononies (settlements as you call them) are more than a "sticking point". Colonizing the lands that belong to others is the crux of the entire conflict:

Please fact-check before revealing such abysmal ignorance here.

Much dialog here about US financial health, diminishing US living standards, health care, etc., and tea-baggers. some of whom are selfish sociopaths without conscience, and some who are confused (like run-over dogs who have no idea where their pain is coming from and lash out and bite those who try to help them). These confused people don't realized that they are being made tools of the very powerful interests who brought them their financial pain.

Check out this budget pie:

Now connect these dots: WAR ON TERROR CAUSES: (ISRAEL MURDERING INNOCENT PEOPLE AND STEALING THEIR LAND AND US SUPPORT OF THAT ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and other dominating and hegemonious acts conducted on foreign soil as the US empire imposes and supports unwanted regimes on other peoples)

Lack of federal funding for social programs including infrastructure, education and healthcare in a new global economic reality.

Simple connection.

Simple fix: Quit bullying the world and exploiting other people's resources withdraw our military from bases where we are not wanted, and quit making more "terrorists" by withdrawing support of Israel and other imposed states. We have a choice; We can continue conducting unnecessary wars, or we can take care of our citizens. We cannot do both.

One more thing, if anyone is bothering to read this thread...Reviewing a few of Pastor Wright's statements:

“We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans,” he said, “and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own frontyards.”

In another sermon he said that the Government “wants us to sing ‘God Bless America’ ” despite treating black people as second-class citizens. “No, no, no,” Mr Wright said, “God damn America!”

More recently, he has said that Mr Obama “knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people; Hillary would never know that, Hillary ain’t never been called a n****r”.

TRUTH and expressed righteous indignation as far as I can tell.....I see no hatred of anything but racism and injustice in America by his statements.

I commend the Columbian editors for not allowing the posting of the 'N' word here.

Thanks for the fix, Giles...Nothing else needs to be said. I will, however remind James that Hugo Chavez was elected to power with more than 76 percent of the votes of the good people of Venezuela. U.S. business interests and the controlling moneyed elite former ruling class of Venezuela of course want him deposed as he's successfully re-distributed much of Venezueala's oil wealth to the people by building schools, hospitals etc. and improving the lot of average citizens. This is the pattern in Latin America: As wealth from labor and resources is redistributed, the U.S. intervenes and often overthrows the newly-elected governments and imposes governments more favorable to business and higher profits. We who read more than U.S. propaganda know that, but others like James continue to believe in myths, as their lifelong beliefs conflict with reality. Any information that is new to them is rejected outright, as they retreat into the safe cocoon of their lifelong cognitive investments. This is why I suggested that James look up the definition of cognitive dissonance. I don't care if people willfully remain ignorant except that their ignorance contributes directly to the harm of millions, as their votes affect domestic and foreign policies of our government.

Regarding the book that Chavez gave to Obama: Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez gave United States President Barack Obama a Spanish copy of Open Veins of Latin America as a gift at the 5th Summit of the Americas.[6][7][8] During the 2009 annual White House Correspondents dinner, Obama, in his speech said the following in subtle reference to the book given to him by Chávez: "Now, let me be clear, just because he handed me a copy of Peter Pan does not mean that I'm going to read it — (laughter) — but it's good diplomatic practice to just accept these gifts".[9] As a result of this international exposure, the book's sales are reported to have risen sharply—it was the 54,295th most popular book on Amazon.com on one day, but it moved to #2 on the list a day later.
I'm sure that Open Veins of Latin America would do some good in the hands of James Hurley if he would only read it. I've read many such works, as I've read many books from the RIGHT, including Thomas Friedman William and Irvine Kristol, etc. But James appears to be more of an entrenched idealogue, with or without links, than me.

What's telling are the links I provided, not speculation and groundless statements by you such as, "I really am amazed at the number of American people who hate their country.
It is the greatest country the world has ever known, but will not last long with the election of people like Barack Obama who has expressed his dislike in many speeches."

Rome was the greatest country the world had ever known in it's era, also, unless you were a victim of Rome's empirialism.

Can you provide a link or documented evidence to your mere opinion that Barak Obama has expressed his dislike of America? I don't recall anything but praise for the U.S. having been publicly expressed by our President.

The Monroe Doctrine was designed to keep European powers from further exploiting 'our" Americas (Yes, James, there are 3 Americas _ South, Central and North. North America has 2 countries, the other two have multiple sovergn nations. But only U.S. citizens have the arrogance and the audacity to claim the title, "Americans"). The Carter Doctrine is modeled after the Monroe Doctrine, only the declared protection covers the oil-rich Middle East. Israel continues to abuse its neighbors as it steals evermore land from Palestinians and starves them and bombs them to death regularly, but the U.S. vetoes any UN actions (more than 100 UN Resolutions and counting) against Israel because as long as Israel is threatened, additional excuse for U.S. presence and hegemony in the region remains. The U.S. is complicit in Israels war crimes because Israel's murderous policies reinforce the reason for U.S. presence next to the light sweet crude sump. (Trading blood of innocents for control of where the oil goes). New-found oil in Venesuela double their known reserves, and huge deposits off Brazils coast make South America new targets for military adventurism. Dozens of coups all over our planet have been implemented by U.S. forces. Bolivia, Venesuela , Brazil, Argentina and other oil producing states will be undermined and prevented from consolidating OPEC-like under the leadership of Venesuela
s Petrosur (Nationalized oil company) by U.S. forces, covert and overt because that's what U.S. forces do, and have done for more than 200 years. Resources for empire. Propaganda raises chumps for the cause, but under all of the faux righteousness, it's really about resources for empire.

Read: TALIBAN by Ahmad Rashid http://www.bookbrowse.com/reviews/ind...

for a look at oil dealings (Unocal in this case) prior to the U.S. Afghan war. Pipelines across AfPak is why we are there. New interest in Somalia are a portent of things to come as newfound oil across the face of Africa will be contested by empires. China already has firm deals with several African governments which the U.S. will likely attempt to undermine. Russia is already working in Iraq to extract oil that U.S. kids and 1 million Iraqis and others died for. Resources for the empire, James. All else is just B.S.

North is a known liar and felon who circumvented our U.S. Congress and the will of the majority of people in the United States of America. He is a traitor. You read him if you want to. I prefer to read truth, More on the Cocain Importation Agency:

"Gary Webb (author of the Dark Alliance series and book) provides an excellent synopsis of the IG Report's contents, found here and here.

The 1980's CIA collusion with allied drug traffickers lead to the formation of a protected narcotics pipeline, resulting an increase in supply and drop in price. Former DEA agents have repeatedly pointed out that 50%-70% of the cocaine entering the U.S. went via drug cartels that enjoyed CIA protection.

"..Taken alone, one Contra drug ring, that of Rafael Caro Quintero and Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (two Contra supporters based in Guadalajara, Mexico) were known by DEA to be smuggling four tons A MONTH into the U.S. during the early Contra war. Other operations including Manuel Noriega (a CIA asset, strongman leader of Panama), John Hull (ranch owner and CIA asset, Costa Rica), Felix Rodriguez (Contra supporter, El Salvador), Juan Ramon Matta Ballesteros (Honduran Military, Contra supporter, Honduras) along with other elements of the Guatemalan and Honduran military. Cumulatively, the aforementioned CIA assets were concurrently trafficking close to two hundred tons a year or close to 70% of total U.S. consumption. All of these CIA assets have been ascertained as being connected to CIA via public documentation and testimony."
The CIA Inspector General's 300 page report holds many revelations; however, it is was originally a 600 page document. Robert Parry (http://www.consortiumnews.com) did a story in the Fall of 1998 regarding the omitted sections of the report, particulary concerning a second CIA drug ring (distinct from the one examined in Dark Alliance) in South Central Los Angeles that existed between 1988 and 1991. And according to Parry, there was yet another drug ring in L.A. that remains classified, because it was run by a CIA agent who had participated in the Contra war. It remains classified purportedly because an ongoing CIA investigation devles further into the matter (leaving one to speculate whether the CIA will utter another word about this case).

Looking back at the past 15 years, illicit cocaine trafficking saw a marked 90% decline in cocaine trafficking and consumption, noticably contemporaneous with the disbandment of the Contras and the end of the CIA's covert actions against Nicaragua."

Sorry if this information disturbs you, James...Look up "cognitive dissonance".

Yeah, Giles...Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine" applies to the delayed response.

Why was the U.S. Attacked when you suited up in a uniform, Mr. Hurley?

Iran Contra Affair
Main article: CIA and Contras cocaine trafficking in the US
Released on April 13, 1989, the Kerry Committee report concluded that members of the U.S. State Department "who provided support for the Contras were involved in drug trafficking...and elements of the Contras themselves knowingly received financial and material assistance from drug traffickers."

In 1996 Gary Webb wrote a series of articles published in the San Jose Mercury News, which investigated Nicaraguans linked to the CIA-backed Contras who had allegedly smuggled cocaine into the U.S. which was then distributed as crack cocaine into Los Angeles and funneled profits to the Contras. According to Webb, the CIA was aware of the cocaine transactions and the large shipments of drugs into the U.S. by the Contra personnel and directly aided drug dealers to raise money for the Contras.

In 1996 CIA Director John M. Deutch went to Los Angeles to refute the allegations raised by the Gary Webb articles, and was famously confronted by former LAPD officer Michael Ruppert, who testified that he witnessed it occurring.[6]
