As I write this, a good friend of mine is home with her husband of more than 20 years who is dying of cancer. She and her family have turned to Hospice for support and to CaringBridge.org an online Web site where she can post daily updates for friends and family. According to her postings on CaringBridge, the process is progressing as expected. She's sharing her deepest thoughts about the difficult and emotional journey. I mention my friend because she soon will find herself among the many women I know who are on their own without a partner. It's a brave new world of adjustment with rewards, opportunities and challenges. But it is a world many (women and men) who are nearing or at 60, will experience. I've been writing about those experiences for more than two years. This is my last posting on 60 & Single at columbian.com, as I retire after 26 years in the newsroom on Friday. I expect to continue exploring the many aspects of 60 & Single. at my new blog Web site, sixtyandsingle.com. As a reporter, writer and editor, the newspaper has given me many opportunities to make a contribution including a weekly business news column in the print newspaper on Sundays and this blog... devoted to the issues facing 60 & Single women. It has been a great ride. I am excited and energized about my future. See you at sixtyandsingle.com. Go to CaringBridge by clicking here.
