UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (AP) — A Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman says a 3-year-old girl riding a tricycle was fatally injured by an SUV on Monday in University Place.
The child was taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Spokesman Ed Troyer said the collision appears to have been an accident. He says the girl was playing with a group of children in a driveway when her mother’s fiance asked them to move so he could head to work. Troyer says most of the children moved but the little girl was hit because no one saw her right in front of the wheel.
