A cow that fell from a poorly secured cattle hauler was struck by a car late Sunday in Washougal, Sgt. Geoff Reijonen of the Washougal police.

A witness driving in the 2500 block of 32nd Street told police she saw one of the doors come open and the cow falling out. She avoided it, but a motorist traveling behind her wasn’t so lucky, Reijonen said.

There were no major injuries reported following the 8:45 p.m. collision, Reijonen said.

A witness said the cow looked injured but was moving.

“My understanding was the cow was OK,” Reijonen said, adding that the shaken cow hid in roadside bushes but that eventually, after a struggle, “they were able to get her loaded back up.”

The driver of the vehicle, Brad Strunk, 50, of Camas was cited for failure to secure a load, said police Cpl. Troy Martin.
