NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Fred Hill has resigned as Rutgers basketball coach.

The university had told Hill that he would not return to his coaching job after an incident in which he yelled at Pittsburgh baseball coaches following an April 1 game at Rutgers.

The Scarlet Knights baseball team is coached by Hill’s father.

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti told Hill not to attend another game between the teams later that week, but Hill disobeyed the instructions.
