MEXICO CITY (AP) — South Africa’s foreign minister says her country is committed to hosting a safe World Cup and visitors can expect to “go back home safe and happy.”

Maite Nkoana-Mashabane says South Africa has committed money and resources so the tournament is the best “the world has ever seen.” She said Monday the country is enlisting the help of more than 24 countries and Interpol.

The World Cup runs from June 11 to July 11 and will be in Africa for the first time.

Nkoana-Mashabane says her country is especially honored to host the tournament, given its history with apartheid.
