WASHINGTON (AP) — Adam Cristman scored twice and assisted Andy Najar to lead D.C. United to a 4-2 win over F.C. Dallas in Wednesday night’s U.S. Open Cup play-in game.

Christian Castillo also scored as United advanced to play Real Salt Lake. The winner of that game qualifies for the 16-team tournament.

Down 3-0 early in the second half, Bruno Guarda scored and Dax McCarty converted a 57th-minute penalty to bring Dallas within a goal.

Cristman responded two minutes later with his second goal, heading Clyde Simms’ cross over charging goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

Earlier, Cristman chipped the unsteady Hartman to open the scoring in the fourth minute. Hartman later fumbled Castillo’s 40-yard free-kick goal through his hands to make it 2-0 in the 39th minute.
