FEZ, Morocco (AP) — Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic reached her first WTA Tour semifinal after beating fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany 7-5, 6-2 at the Grand Prix SAR.

The 106th-ranked Voracova broke Kerber at 5-5 in the first set, and then again in the opening game of the second after a double-fault from the German. Kerber lost her serve again to give Voracova a 5-2 lead before serving out the match.

Fellow Czech Iveta Benesova also advanced to the semifinals Thursday with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Laura Pous Tio of Spain.
