MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — A relative of a driver who shot and killed eight people and injured two others in Connecticut before committing suicide says he complained his company was prejudiced and told his mother it pushed him over the edge.

Annette Levine (luh-VEEN’) says Omar Thornton’s last words to his mother were he loved her and the Hartford Distributors warehouse where he worked had “pushed him over the edge.” Levine says she is first cousin to Thornton’s mother.

Thornton’s uncle Henry Holliday says Thornton’s mother was crying all day and was too distraught to talk. He calls the shooting a tragedy for everyone involved.

Company vice president Steve Hollander says Thornton was cold as ice and didn’t protest at a meeting to show him a video of him stealing beer before Tuesday’s shootings.
