COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The street course for this year’s Maloof Money Cup skateboarding championships has been inspired by several Southern California beach skate spots, and the vert ramp will again have a rainbow rail.
The third Maloof Money Cup will run Wednesday through Sunday at the Orange County Fairgrounds. It is hosted by Joe and Gavin Maloof, the brothers who own the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
First place in street competition will be worth $100,000 while first place in vert will pay $75,000. Chris Cole and Alex Perelson will defend their titles.
The street course replicates obstacles found on the Santa Monica Pier and at other locations, including Venice Beach and Huntington Beach.
