TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) — No one was hurt when a Tukwila police detective fired at a driver backing toward the officer.

The driver was able to speed away Tuesday night but was arrested a short time later by the Washington State Patrol. The 37-year-old Gig Harbor man was jailed for investigation of vehicular assault.

The shooting occurred as police were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Highline Hospital’s Tukwila campus. The driver tried to flee as officers approached and hit a parked car. A detective who felt threatened fired.
