SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Washington State University president Elson S. Floyd said eliminating three vice president positions and combining several departments is the best way to deal with millions of dollars in state budget cuts.
Floyd detailed his plans at a meeting with hundreds of WSU employees in Pullman.
Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire last week reported that tax collections continue to come in below projections, with lawmakers facing a potential $3 billion budget shortfall. The governor told state agencies to prepare for additional cuts of between 4 and 7 percent.
