COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State players know Miami isn’t the first game on their schedule. Yet they just can’t help but give priority to the fast-approaching showdown with the Hurricanes.
Marshall will provide the opposition when the Buckeyes open their season Sept. 2, but it’s the game nine days later against the Hurricanes that is drawing the most attention.
The Buckeyes and ‘Canes will have a lot riding on that Sept. 11 showdown in Ohio Stadium. No wonder the game has created so much buzz around the nation, with many considering it an early-season gauge of both teams’ national title hopes.
Coach Jim Tressel said he understands why so many put so much weight on the game, but he also knows that there are many hurdles ahead for his team, before and after Miami comes to town.
