JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — A group of soldiers from the Army’s 4th Stryker brigade has been welcomed home to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

About 150 soldiers marched into Soldiers Field House on Thursday morning for a brief speech from an officer who thanked them for their service and told them to watch out for each other over the next few months.

Then they were dismissed into the arms of waiting of families as a band played “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

It was a routine event at the base south of Seattle that was made more significant by the withdrawal Wednesday of the last members of the combat unit from Iraq.
