SEATTLE (AP) — Three brothers — ages 10, 12 and 14 — have been charged with attempted robbery Friday after allegedly trying to steal a gun from a 17-year-old boy aboard a Metro bus earlier this week in Seattle.

King County Prosecutor’s office says the 10-year-old boy was shot accidentally during the scuffle following the attempted robbery on Tuesday.

Charging documents say that the 17-year-old later told police he saw the younger boy reach inside a backpack. Fearing he was reaching for a gun, the older boy grabbed him in a bear hug. Police say a gunshot went off inside the pack, wounding the 10-year-old.

Police found a .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun in the pack.

The 10-year-old also has been charged with second-degree robbery and intimidating a witness after allegedly stealing a bicycle in June.
