SALKUM, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane Police spokeswoman says the suspected gunman in a Saturday morning triple homicide in Lewis County passed through Spokane and stopped for gas.
But Jennifer DeRuwe says officers searched the area and have no reason to believe 31-year-old John Allen Booth Jr. of Onalaska remained in Spokane.
Lewis County Sheriff’s Commander Steve Aust says Booth used his cell phone to call a friend around noon. When authorities “pinged” his phone, they found he was in Spokane at the time.
Three people were shot to death around 2 a.m. Saturday in rural Salkum, Wash., and a fourth person was critically injured.
Booth is on parole after being released from prison in December. Corrections officials say he has a long list of criminal convictions.
