SEATTLE (AP) — Investigators with the IRS say three Washington state real-estate developers — including a former state senate candidate — failed to report nearly $25 million in income.
Bellevue developer Winston Bontrager; his girlfriend, Pauline Anderson; and his son, former Republican state senate candidate Jason Bontrager, have not been charged with any crimes. Agents raided their homes and offices this month.
Seattlepi.com first reported about the raids Tuesday.
An IRS agent wrote in a search warrant application that the three failed to report nearly $25 million in income from three shopping center developments in Vancouver, Wash. One of the deals involved Michael R. Mastro, a millionaire developer who has been forced into one on the biggest bankruptcies in state history.
A phone message left with their company, Alexandria Development, was not immediately returned.
Court documents say Winston Bontrager was convicted of fraud in 1994 and still owes $680,000 in restitution from that case.
