EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — An Edmonds man with epilepsy and a history of traffic collisions has been charged with vehicular homicide.

The charge filed Tuesday by Snohomish County prosecutors says 69-year-old Ben Garnet Holt was driving “with disregard for the safety of others” when he slammed into the back of a minivan a nearly 70 mph. The crash last November killed another Edmonds man, 62-year-old John Spudich, as he waited for a light to change.

The Daily Herald or Everett reports that the prosecutor isn’t saying Holt was having a seizure, but he says Holt has had multiple crashes in the past.

Blood tests showed Holt had a large amount of an anti-convulsant medication in his system. The Department of Licensing says he no longer has a driver’s license.
