ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Receiver Anthony Armstrong says he’s taken a “very scenic” route to the Washington Redskins.
No one will argue with that. Armstrong went from West Texas A&M to something called the Intense Football League. From there he went to the Arena Football League before spending 2008 on the Miami Dolphins practice squad.
Now he’s the leading receiver during the preseason with the Redskins, a long-shot speedster making a surprisingly strong bid for a roster spot.
Armstrong says he embraces his unusual journey to the NFL. As he puts it: “You need rain to have flowers in the end.”
