EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Work is beginning on a new science building at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

The $65 million, five-story building will be at the main entrance to the campus, not far from the $227 million Matthew Knight Arena and the Ford Alumni Center, also under construction.

The 100,000-square-foot Lewis Integrative Science Building will be the largest science building added to campus since Willamette Hall, at 129,000 square feet, opened in 1990.

The building is named for university alumni Robert and Beverly Lewis. In 2001, the Lewises also donated $10 million to establish what is now known as the Lewis Center for Neuroimaging.
