VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Ridgefield School District employee who diverted more than $800,000 into her bank account was sentenced Friday in federal court in Tacoma to two years in prison.

The Columbian reports that 57-year-old Peggy Kane also has to pay nearly $807,000 in restitution.

Kane pleaded guilty to wire fraud in May in an agreement with federal prosecutors.

They say she took the money over a 10-year period and spent it on jewelry, cars, vacations and college funds for her grandchildren.
