INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host a fourth MotoGP race next year after agreeing to a one-year contract extension.
Speedway CEO Jeff Belskus confirmed the deal during an interview with The Associated Press on Friday.
Motorcycles had never raced at the historic speedway until 2008, when speedway officials replaced Indy’s Formula One race with this event. Organizers signed a three-year deal that was to expire after this season.
Practice for Sunday’s MotoGP race began Friday, with qualifying scheduled for Saturday.
