FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Danny Woodhead will face his former team when the New England Patriots running back takes on the New York Jets on Monday.
The co-leaders of the AFC East with NFL-best 9-2 records meet Monday for the second time this season. Woodhead signed with the Patriots just before the teams met in Week 2, after he was cut by the Jets. New York won that game, 28-14.
The 5-foot-8 Woodhead didn’t play in the loss, but since then, he has rushed for 344 yards, second most on the Patriots, and three touchdowns. He also has 24 receptions for 230 yards and one touchdown.
The Jets originally signed Woodhead as a free agent out of Chadron State in 2008, but he missed the entire season with a knee injury before playing 10 games last year.
