FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets might have a chance to air things out against the New England Patriots on Monday night.

While coach Rex Ryan insists they’re still a run-first offense, the Jets should have several opportunities to exploit a secondary that ranks last in the league in pass defense.

Ryan says Thursday the numbers are a bit misleading because the Patriots have still been winning. But Mark Sanchez might be able to take advantage of working against a young secondary that includes rookie cornerback Devin McCourty.

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes could face McCourty, something he says he “wouldn’t do it if I was them” because of the success he has had against young defensive backs, including in the Super Bowl.
