CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have signed reliever Jensen Lewis to a one-year contract and avoided salary arbitration with the right-hander.

Lewis will make $650,000 next season.

The Indians finalized the contract with Lewis late Thursday night, shortly after they got a deal done with reliever Joe Smith. Teams had until midnight to offer 2011 contracts to unsigned players on their 40-man rosters.

Lewis spent last season bouncing between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus. He went 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 37 appearances for the Indians.
