La Center man cited after 3-vehicle crash

The Columbian

A 22-year-old La Center man was cited for three infractions by the Washington State Patrol after being involved in a three-car accident Sunday morning.

The patrol said Andrew J. Gravlee was eastbound on state Highway 500 at 11:44 a.m. Sunday when he failed to stop at a red light.

Gravlee’s 1988 Chevrolet pickup collided with a 2010 Toyota Matrix driven by Michael V. McChesney, 29, of Vancouver, who was southbound on Northeast 137th Avenue.

The impact caused Gravlee’s truck to spin into a 1996 Saturn driven by Melissa Bernhardt, 25, of Vancouver, who was northbound on 137th.

Gravlee and Bernhardt’s vehicles were totaled, the patrol said. McChesney’s car had an estimated $2,000 in damage.

Gravlee and Bernhardt were taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where both were treated and released. McChesney was not reported injured.

Gravlee was cited for failure to yield at a red light, having no insurance and driving while suspended.
