Walker scores 25, Delaware State beats Maine 75-56

ORONO, Maine (AP) — Casey Walker scored 25 points and Delaware State defeated Maine 75-56 on Monday night.

The Hornets (3-4) shot 53.6 percent from the field (15 of 28), including 53.8 percent from 3-point range (7 of 13) in the second half to outscore the Black Bears 46-28 after the break.

Maine (2-5) used a 10-2 run to lead 20-10 on Alasdair Fraser’s free throw with 9:04 left in the first half.

The Hornets then outscored Maine 16-6 to tie it at 26 on a pair of free throws by Walker with 47 seconds to go until halftime. Walker’s jump shot 38 seconds later put Delaware State up for good, 29-26.

Jay Threatt chipped in 13 points, seven assists and seven rebounds for the Hornets. Desi Washington added 12 points and Terron Stowe 10 for Delaware State, which committed just seven turnovers compared to 16 by the Black Bears.

Raheem Singleton scored 11 points for Maine.
