DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Chad Pennington is scheduled for shoulder surgery Friday, and he says it’s 50-50 whether he’ll retire.
The Miami Dolphins quarterback will undergo surgery on his right shoulder for a fourth time. The arthroscopic procedure will be performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla.
Following an arduous recovery from season-ending surgery last year, Pennington made his 2010 debut last month versus Tennessee. He hurt his shoulder again on the first play and is out for the season.
Pennington says he’s confident he can fully recover from another operation and play again, but he’s unsure whether he should try at age 34 and probably won’t decide for several months.
