St. Francis (N.Y.) defeats winless Colgate 68-57

NEW YORK (AP) — Akeem Bennett scored 19 points to lead four St. Francis (N.Y.) players in double figures as the Terriers defeated winless Colgate 68-57 on Tuesday night.

St. Francis (4-3) won its third straight game and is undefeated in four games at home.

With Colgate ahead 37-36 with 13:25 to go, the Terriers used a 15-1 run to take a 51-38 lead with 7:45 left. The Raiders could get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Colgate (0-7) led by as many as eight points in the first half and took a 30-27 lead into halftime.

Ricky Cadell added 15 points, junior Dre Calloway 14 and Akeem Johnson 13 for St. Francis.

The Terriers shot only 37.5 percent from the field (21 of 56), hitting 6 of 24 3-pointers, but went 20 of 29 at the free-throw line.

Yaw Gyawu and Joe Hoban had 14 points apiece for the Raiders, who shot 47.9 percent (23 of 48) from the field, but had 25 turnovers.
