ROGUE RIVER, Ore. (AP) — A Southern Oregon town has gotten a Christmas gift — the reopening of a plywood mill closed since last year.

The plywood mill in Rogue River has put 108 people to work.

The Medford Mail-Tribune reports that the Murphy Co. of Eugene is betting on a rebound in housing construction next year.

Milwaukie-based Panel Products shut down the mill in early 2009. Murphy Co. bought it in January for $3.6 million and spent millions more on new equipment.

The plant is operating with one shift, and the company hopes to increase production to three shifts with about 200 employees.
