A Vancouver man allegedly in possession of 23 ounces of marijuana and four weapons, two of which were allegedly stolen, was pulled over and arrested Sunday near Cottage Grove, Ore.

Michael N. Brachais, 34, was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 when he was pulled over by an Oregon State Police trooper for an unspecified traffic violation.

Lieutenant Rob Edwards discovered 14 glass jars filled with marijuana concealed inside a duffel bag in the 2000 Plymouth van. Also in the duffel bag were two pistols, including one police allege was stolen.

Under the bag, rolled inside a blanket, Edwards found a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle. The rifle had also been reported stolen.

Brachais was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree theft, four counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession, unlawful distribution and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance — marijuana.

He was being held without bail Monday in the Lane County Jail.
